11x14 inch watercolor painting of a man standing in a pool with his arms on the pool’s edge.

Another new one. Available in my shop at the time of posting. www.gabrielgarbow.com
“Dream in Jade” focuses on contrasts: the red-orange of the figure’s skin vs the blue-green of the pool, the brights lights against dark shadows, and the seductive yet wearily distracted expression of the subject.

Really love the smoothness of the light accompanying the smoothness of the skin.

My takeaway is that Corgis are well on their way. Mine loves to swim.

This is 100% true; however, mocking potential allies is not a great way to build a coalition of the size that will be needed to end this slide into totalitarianism.

This is perhaps my favorite yet. The colors are so rich, and the textures…!

I’ve had similar experiences as a painter, and also questioned continuing. It’s not a pleasant situation, and is especially tough when money is tight and I’m reluctant to pass on a gig. But one learns how to set boundaries and navigate the unserious people in the world.

Thx I seem to remember my Schminke set also being on sale at Wet Paint in St Paul, MN, way back when.

It took me years of painting … and I mean YEARS … before I felt confident with watercolor. You’re off to a great start. Take time to appreciate your own incremental progress, however slow it feels.

Is that a Schminke watercolor tin? Looks similar to same I got started on. They were great paints, but as the little pans got used up, I eventually shifted to using tube paints.

Lovely contrasts of light and shadow in this piece. It also conveys a real mood. Well done!

… I do find it easier to pose for my own reference photos than try to get someone else to do it. Many models are good with their bodies, but struggle to get the emotion I seek on their face in a naturalistic way

The two roles are largely disconnected for me. I’m primarily an artist and started from that vantage point. Acting as a model, for me, is fine when needed for my own paintings, or to help out a colleague, but I get nothing out of it beyond that.
