It was sunny first thing here but soon clouded over and it is now raining intermittently.

Close-up of a crown anemone (Anemone coronaria) with several layers of broad, velvety petals in a deep violet-blue. The petals have a delicate, slightly shimmering texture with visible, fine veins radiating from the base of the flower. The center of the flower is dark and surrounded by a dense ring of tiny, black stamens, the tips of which are covered with pale yellow or cream-colored pollen.

"That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.”
L. M. Montgomery,

A cool spring morning sunrise
The sun rises above the treeline, shining and shattering, and yet completely silent.
Bare branches spread across a burning sky, their fine lines dark against a deep red and orange glow. To the left, the dense silhouette of an evergreen stands still. The upper sky fades quietly into a cool, muted purple-brown, as if the night has not quite let go.
There is no wind, no sound implied.
Only light, slowly claiming the morning.

"The sunrise opened above them like some cosmic explosion, shining and shattering and yet silent." G.K. Chesterton

Good morning everyone, have a fabulous Sunday.

Photograph taken using a macro setting of a large mass of frogspawn whilst out on a walk across the fields yesterday. Bright lime blades of grass are suspended within this clear jelly squidge (such a great word!) with lots of dark brown tadpoles each in their individual sack. Tadpoles have just got their tails so not lots to see yet but soon!

Photograph taken using a macro setting of bright yellow gorse flowers in a hedgerow. The sunlight catches the blooms. Behind the flowers is the brown and deep green tangle of branches and thorns of the hedgerow and a pinprick of blue sky through from the other side. Took the image looking up at the flowers.

Mum says; "When gorse is out of bloom, kissing is out of season" whenever she sees it. Quite a fun saying and given there are a few varieties the season is never ending - hoorah!

A long, narrowboat is moored on a canal. It is the Waterside Cafe at Little Venice in London. The hull of the boat is black and the cabin area is a burgundy colour. Between the two areas is a white horizontal stripe. On the side which faces the camera are three rectangular windows at the front and four portholes at the back. In the middle, painted in a gold colour, is information on the name and location of the cafe. Along the top of the cabin are numerous planter boxes overflowing with greenery and red or yellow flowers. Behind the boat is a fence of black metal railings and four large trees. Beyond that are two residential buildings, both of which are a light cream colour with grey flat roofs. The whole peaceful and calming scene is reflected in the waters of the canal.

A predominantly green bird, with a bright orange beak, sits on a brown vine. He faces right. On the top of his wing is a thin band of blue. The background is blurred green leaves. This is the male Eclectus Parrot.

The Eclectus Parrot is a strikingly beautiful bird known for its extreme sexual dimorphism. Males are bright green, while females are predominantly red and purple. This unique colouration led to them being classified as different species until the early 20th century.

They thrive in rainforests and prefer the canopy level for nesting and foraging.

Eclectus Parrots are known for their unique mating system, which includes both polyandry and polygynandry. Females may mate with multiple males, and all males help raise the chicks. They typically lay two eggs per clutch, but often only one chick survives.

@robcrank68.bsky.social has chosen the #BirdOfTheDay theme to be #Feeders, birds on feeders. Alt is #Green, any bird with Green in its plumage.

How about the #EcelctusParrot? He is very green. Found this fella in a Bird Sanctuary in North Queensland. More in ALT.

aerial, lagoon, tropical, turquoise water, lush vegetation, boat, island, serene, palm trees, blue hole

I kept staring at that dark water from above. So deep it swallows the light. One tiny boat in the middle, completely alone. That's the kind of quiet I've been chasing lately.

mountain, snow-capped, sunset, golden hour, landscape, forest, layered mountains, hazy, alpine, pacific northwest

Last light on Rainier. The kind of quiet that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and just stand there for a while.

mountain, landscape, golden hour, sunrise, fog, alpine, rocky, ridgeline, misty, serene

I got up before the sun for this. Watched the light crawl across the ridge like it was waking up too. Cold hands, warm chest. That's the whole feeling.

A high-contrast, black and white photograph featuring the rounded, textured top of a dark mooring post in the sharp foreground. The surface of the object is wet and pitted, reflecting light in small, shimmering droplets. The background consists of dark, out-of-focus water with soft ripples creating a bokeh effect. The composition uses a shallow depth of field, drawing intense focus to the craggy texture of the foreground against the smooth, dark expanse of the water above. The overall mood is moody, minimalist, and serene, framed with a thin white border.

Titterstone Clee

A stark yet beautiful sunrise on the summit of Titterstone Clee in #Shropshire yesterday. There was snow on the forecast the night before, so I set my alarm for 4am. Titterstone turned out to be the right choice because as I looked around I couldn't see any snow on the surrounding hills. It was...

To say a work of art is good or bad is always a subjective evaluation. One can criticize and scrutinize technical aspects (as a teacher I do this daily) but in the end it is a matter of taste. Here, on #Stunday, the #SundayShout-Out, subjective and celebratory, great photos by my mutuals, imho.
