Delighted to welcome @gralefrit.bsky.social and his gigantic comedy brain to @newmodernbooks.bsky.social.
Be Funny Or Die is available now in Audio and E-Book with a brand new paperback coming soon
A huge congrats to Justin for making the Penderyn shortlist. A truly remarkable book.
Also delighted to see Kate on the list who I acquired early on at Nine Eight and was the last book to be published on that imprint
So, the last Nine Eight book and the first on New Modern.
I’ll take that
My daughter’s 15 year old boyfriend bought her a bunch of flowers because it is International Women’s Day and he is a kind, decent lad. Nick Fuentes, Pete Hegseth, Andrew Tate, Braden Peters, Jordan Peterson, Myron Gaines….shove that up your fucking arse
Another great Word in Your Ear chats where Mark and David speak to @scottrowley.bsky.social about his forthcoming book ‘Stay Alive:The Life & Death of Stuart Adamson’
Includes, of course, the opportunity to revisit one of the all time classic Smash Hits nicknames

You and me both
I’d never heard The Love Unlimited Orchestra’s ‘Rhapsody in White’ until I picked this up last month as a lucky £1 find in a second hand shop and I can now honestly say it’s one of the greatest albums I’ve ever listened to
A brilliant, heartbreaking lost album
“There’s barely anyone who was important in the frontman’s story that hasn’t contributed here and Rowley unearths some disquieting truths that help explain the pain that Adamson suffered his entire life ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

100%. I’ve got a lot of love for Caravan. It’s as if Finger from Nuts In May started a prog band as opposed to former Charterhouse alumni. Not that I’ve got anything against them either.
The dog, the dog he’s at it again’ really is prog at its very best. Unfortunate album title or not.
I was thinking just the same thing a little while back. Concluded that as a naive 21 year old man with faux artistic pretensions and wanting girls to find him ‘deep’, worthy melodrama felt aspirational. Nowadays, there is nothing I despise more in music than worthiness. Or pretending to be deep.
‘Waiting for the Out’ is spectacularly good television with everyone clearly aware they’re in something special. But Josh Finan’s performance is just magnetic. Deserving of all the awards.
Will take either
And look, I don’t want to be a dick about this but we’ve won the past two years so if we win for a third time we get to keep the Penderyn distillery
We are delighted to be recognised on this year’s Penderyn Music Book Prize list. A huge congrats to Justin and Mike and all of the authors and publishers for another wonderful year of intelligent music writing. Thank you to Richard Thomas and all at Penderyn and Laugharne

Thank you @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social!
Also, it has never crossed my mind that The Beatles name is never spoken during AHDN. Always learning.
Watching this Trump press conference. It is SO utterly deranged it is genuinely like watching someone’s total cognitive functionality atrophy in real time. I mean, if nothing else - and it is *everything* else - it’s just so goddamn weird
A fantastic start to ‘Stay Alive’. Straight in the Top 100 on Amazon. Testament to the weight of love still felt for Stuart Adamson after 25 years
Very handsome proofs.
Words by Scott Rowley.
Design by Brad Merrett.

“You are on an island, in the middle of an ocean, at the ends of the earth. It is 14th December 2001 and you have just two days to live”
With the full support of band members, family and friends, Scott has written a jaw dropping tribute to Stuart Adamson
Out 26-03-26

The “15 Big Hits” promise of CD Four is, if nothing else, a decent little Scott gag
