Seeing double! One of these is a giclee; the other is an original. The original is slated for a catalogue feature, where it will be for sale in the Fall. But we wanted one for ourselves, so I had this reproduction made. It’s difficult to tell which is which from this distance.

“How Green Was My Valley” completed today. It’s 30x30 acrylic on linen. I had done a small 8x8 version of this called “My Kingdom” back in July as a preliminary for this one. I am just now getting around to doing the full sized version which is slightly different. More sky and landscape in this.

IN PROGRESS. A 30x30 acrylic on linen landscape. In all honesty I don’t know what the final composition will be yet. I simply wanted to paint a dynamic sky from a photo I took at the nearby Zebulon Vance homestead here in Buncombe County. I do think the landscape will also be mountains.

“Life of Surprises” is 30x30 acrylic on linen; available now. The title refers to an experience I had at a small lake near Weaverville. I guess it's really a big pond. There's a trail around it that I walk regularly during spring, summer and fall. I wasn't expecting to see koi in it!

It’s an abstract perspective of snow on evergreens at sunset.

“Sundown” is 24”x36” acrylic on linen; available now. This is a natural progression from my last painting, which featured silhouettes of trees with various colors shining through them to resemble stained glass. There’s a bit of that here. This one is even more expressionistic.

IN PROGRESS; not complete, but sometimes it helps me to place a painting into a scene with a frame to see if what I do have is actually working. And I feel like it is. There’s a lot left to do on the left side. It’s expressionistic/abstracted, but can you guess my inspiration? #inprogress

My 67 year old self in my kinda messy studio, trying to change up my palette since I tend to lean towards the same combo of pinks, violets and blues. I am trying for more of strictly blue and orange in a new expressionistic/semi abstract painting. #acrylicpainter #expressionism

“Forest Cathedral” is now complete and available. It’s 24”x36” acrylic on linen. Kinda difficult to see, but as the branches get closer to the bright spot on the left hand side, they become lighter (a medium purple). Whereas towards the bottom of the painting, they are practically black.

No matter how tired you are, you will never be as tired as a dachshund who has done absolutely nothing all day.
