Turns out being employed by a cdc funded program... stressful. We don't know anything about funding future. Still doing the work. But looming instability. 🫠

What does "programs were eliminated and rendered non-functional" mean exactly?
Aware that cdc divisions were wiped out and many programs under them haven't been communicated with. Does that mean the programs are automatically not continuing? Is there a chance some will be reassigned?

Under Biden, many grants included scoring criteria for all of these now excluded terms—for example, more points for community engagement, collaboration, student research, and issues related to marginalized populations. If you wrote the proposal to meet the specific criteria, you are now cancelled.

HHS Layoffs Likely To Have Ripple Effect On Disability Programs Nationwide Mass firings at a federal agency supporting community living efforts for people with disabilities are fueling concerns that funding will be disrupted and programs could be forced to close.

1/ Trump has gutted the Admin. for Community Living (ACL), a lifeline for 2,500+ orgs. Its grants supported local Independent Living Centers, dev. disabilities councils, respite care & more—helping people with disabilities & older adults live independently.

Among cuts at HHS: most of the workers at NIOSH, incl Pittsburgh national lab that approves and ensures continued quality of respirators - N95s + breathing devices for firefighters, miners, people working w chemicals, construction dust. “Nothing is happening to make sure they continue to be safe”

Essentially they eliminated 20% of the cdc workforce and all the programs under those people are floundering without clear guidance now.

The entire division of human development and disability is gone. So all of our cdc contacts were fired. Grant reporting is due soon and it's unknown who will be looking at it. So we are censoring. And hoping to be "restructured" instead of eliminated. But it's UNCLEAR!

And we're having to "temporarily remove" our values etc for grant renewal reviews. Basically hide the work we do to keep getting money. It feels wrong and like it won't be enough for them
