9 sales and 539 page reads for Autumnal Elegies.

Total earnings from proofreading and editing in 2025 = ยฃ40.
AI wins again. Jarvie loses.

linktr.ee/michaelkjarvie This is an ideal free resource for writers.
As a poor working-class writer I canโt afford a website.
Iโm also not permitted to earn any money from proofreading and editing.
My only source of income is book sales on Amazon since bookshops refuse to stock my work.
Only 3 more sales required to equal 2024.

So, Iโve reached this point now. Writing the dreaded synopsis!

I do my best to fuck them up.
De Profundis is one of the most interesting of the earlier free verse poems from Traklโs first collection Gedichte of 1913.
More sales. Every one of them pisses off the middle-class gatekeepers who reject my work.
Keep โem coming.

Always nice to see.

The month so far.
Someone has been busy reading Autumnal Elegies.

That was 2017.
Iโm still banned by Waterstones.
Plus ca change.

Todayโs poem for Remembrance Day is by Georg Trakl.
German military losses in World War One amounted to 2 million dead.

Very wise. Iโve had covid and it was minor. Hence my decision. Iโve found that not working anymore I no longer get sore throats or hacking coughs. Iโm much healthier not being exposed to all those office bugs.
07.11.2025 22:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Do you have a specific reason for the jab? I had the first two but none since then. I had a minimal reaction for the first two so thatโs been my experience.

The title of the volume containing my essay is โTransformer: Writing the Black Countryโ.

I will get round to the latter eventually.
27.10.2025 21:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Given the alliteration in the original poem I was seeking a similar effect in my translation.
27.10.2025 18:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Interesting point. My Otto Muller Verlag two-volume edition mentions that variant reading together with โsammetโ instead of โsammeltโ. The sense of mortal or fatal would still be present. I chose โdeadlyโ to continue the musicality of the d sounds in words such as woods, resound, golden and darkly.
27.10.2025 18:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Macbeth is my favourite Shakespeare play, largely because of its linguistic density.
I did once memorise all of act one just for the hell of it.
One of my stories is called โSignifying Nothingโ and one of my lecturers wrote a book called โNightโs Black Agentsโ.
Yeah I know Iโm great๐คฃ hope you are well. Not seen you in a while. Maybe at Annโs next open mic?

Blah blah blah.

I didnโt realise there was a book. Iโll have to add that to my comp list. Thanks.
My novel features Ernst Gennat, the Buddha of the Alexanderplatz.
Ten perfect years of submitting my work for no reward.
I really must keep it up.
Iโll have to watch this series as one of the characters in my forthcoming novel The Sharp Judge features in it.
