Niall I agree with you in principle, but we (Ireland) have to be serious about sovereignty (passports, alliances , defence etc) to be taken seriously. Constructive ambiguity around our relationships with UK and US while a member of EU while pushing a non aligned line in the UN is not viable.

Not sure that “West” is still meaningful. Can the EU exert some kind of independent line in Israel? Would the UK support something that did not support the US? There has to be a viable political path to make something of the moral position.
