In a just society, teaching & learning honest history wouldn't be an act of resistance, but here it is. One small thing I can offer this Black History Month is the conversations I've had with brilliant historians about their work uncovering difficult stories about this country's racial legacy.

My son is a freshman at the US Naval Academy. As a family we always valued USNA’s rich diversity among its midshipmen, faculty and staff. I fear this may change. We must not acquiesce to the nullification of our nation’s noteworthy men and women & their great accomplishments.
