Before researching this piece I knew RFK Jr was horrible, needed to be impeached/removed and that things were really bad at HHS - but it was still shocking to detail the conspiracy theorists and disinformers who are now in control of US public health 🧪 1/
I appreciate this call to collective action from @cdelawalla.bsky.social . I've seen this dynamic play out many times: a small number of people taking on the work for change that will benefit many, and paying the personal cost of less time and energy for their own research.
This is just the latest example I've seen, but it is really bleak how much political content on social media these days is being sponsored by dark money interest groups and how many content creators have been willing to take the cash and keep quiet about it.
A creator, Amanda Informed, was offered the money from "Democracy Unmuted." When she asked who that was, the digital marketing exec, Matt Anthes, said it was “not an official org yet,”...“individuals from the IL area who have served in the highest offices and been at top of their game in the media.”
Florida isn’t the only entity that is ignoring measles outbreaks.
Under RFK Jr., HHS and the CDC have only been permitted to make halfhearted bleats about vaccinations.
This is the result of putting anti-vax, anti-public health people in charge of public health.
