We all associate Brendel with the classic Schubert Mozart Beethoven but the first time I heard him live was in Schoenberg’s piano concerto with Mehta and the NYPO.

So no surprise he played a creation.

I was not aware of this encounter.

I understand that Vladimir Ashkenazy or Emil Gilels each played Beethoven’s 3rd Piano concerto with Karajan, respectively with the Berlin and with the Dresden Staatskapelle.

But is there a trace of a possible collaboration with Brendel ?
