Such a blessing for our community and those that need this space the most! Thank you to all involved and especially Stepping Stone!
Might be provincial land, so their responsibility. And the snow melting always reveals the ugliness of garbage a lot more for sure. Many cities have a community spring clean up, I know in Guelph we do, and so perhaps these areas may be done by volunteers as well.
The province is allowing cities to implement a vacant home tax. To help support more housing coming, or staying in the market, and potential funds for affordable housing units, we need your feedback! Please learn more about it here and fill out this survey: haveyoursay.guelph.ca/en/projects/va…
Check out this pin I found from 1927 celebrating #Guelph’s 100 birthday! Can you believe it, that our city will celebrate our 200th in just a couple of years? What do you think we should do to celebrate our bi-centennial?
It really is, and praise to everyone, this isn’t just a city of Guelph thing. Public, private, citizens, charities and service providers are all in on the success to date.
Pre-designed plans is a great way to go, and similar to what the government did 70-80 years ago to create much needed housing! Hoping this works, cause we need more housing that’s for sure.
This is excellent work and a good article, thank you for sharing! In #Guelph, 108 (minimum) have also been housed in a similar way over a 12 month period with new housing and supportive units coming online. So yes, it can be done!
I’m pretty sure there’s a rule somewhere on the books that if you randomly find local #Guelph artist James Gordon’s album for sale you gotta buy it! Especially when it’s on cassette! 👍🏻
Today #Guelph Council came together in unity for our local & Canadian economy! We directed staff “to takes steps to avoid, wherever possible, any new procurements from US-based companies.” We will “stand on guard for thee!” Our city, our companies & workers! #ElbowsUp #SupportCanada #SupportLocal
So yeah, ahhhh don’t park cars close to the roofline right now folks! How lucky am I??? Holy moly!
Thank you for sharing!

Congrats also to Doug Ford for another decisive win as Ontario’s premier! I’m excited to work alongside you and many representatives from your party to advance the needs of Guelph!
A shout out to Mustafa, Bob and Cameron from the Liberal, PC and NDP parties that also put their names forward for this election! Although it didn’t go your way it’s part of strengthening our local democracy and you did well! Be proud!
Congrats to Mike Schreiner for your win tonight! I look forward to continuing to work on shared goals on behalf of the citizens of Guelph.
The railway I believe requires a huge setback which constrains the site a bit, you’re right!
Last July an info report on renovictions was released by staff. Myself, councillors & staff then met with Ministers face to face on this issue as it’s a provincial responsibility. Regardless, we passed a motion in Dec to approve work on this under the new Affordable Housing Strategy. Take care!
For my first post here, I thought it should be a good one! So, We got land for affordable housing in #Guelph!
Can you build it?
