This is very similar to a theme from six months back, when we had 'compilation or greatest hits' but the one I went with back then, by one of my favourite folk bands - Merry Hell - was a compilation with a different title, so I can't cheat and use it again.

Remembrance 2025 Here in the UK this coming weekend sees our annual Remembrance Sunday, the day on which we remember and thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. I have posted for this every year since I started this blog: it is an important occasion for which I always want to mark my respect. In previous years I have told you of local events, of the forebears of my football team who went off to join up for WW1, and have shared poetry like the one above.

Tuesday Tunes 276: Bonfire Night 2025 Last week I played a set of tunes to mark Halloween, even though I don't really celebrate the event and its rampant commercialism, and this week I'm returning to another event for which I have often played tunes. Tomorrow is November 5th, which is marked in the UK as Guy Fawkes Night, or more colloquially Bonfire Night. For those outside these shores who might not know of this, we are celebrating the failure of a plot in 1605 to blow up the Houses of Parliament, which we do with bonfires on which we place an effigy of Guy Fawkes, the fall guy for the plot, accompanied by fireworks.
