Talygarn, near Pontyclun, was the home of the Clark Family from 1865.
In 1922, the family sold the house to the South Wales Miners’ Welfare Fund, and it opened as a convalescent home for miners the following year.
This image from the National Coal Board collection was taken on this day 75 years ago, on 12 March 1951.
It shows a patient being examined by a physiotherapist at Talygarn Miners’ Rehabilitation Centre.

The Mid Glamorgan Chapel Survey was carried out by the Planning Department of Mid Glamorgan County Council during the late-1970s.
It includes elevation drawings, plans, and files of information on all chapel buildings in the Mid Glamorgan area at that time.
This drawing from the Mid Glamorgan Chapel Survey features the Wesleyan Methodist Church at John Street, Treharris, which was built in 1900.

Crufts begins today in Birmingham. This photo shows two children with their pet dog. It’s one of a number in the collection featuring children and families with their pets. The photos were taken in Maesteg during the early part of the 20th century but other than that we know very little about them.

It’s Women’s History Month
Glamorgan Archives holds a large collection of records created by the Women’s Institute. Including a wonderful series of scrapbooks produced by branches in 1965 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Britain’s first WI branch at Llanfairpwll, Anglesey.
