Revisited North to Alaska (1960) tonight. Not one of Duke’s best but, uh, definitely his silliest. The broad humor doesn’t always work but the cast is great (especially Capucine) and even Fabian is tolerable. And man, that’s a really great theme song.
I've been painting.

this book is about how you can fucking die as a child so don't die dude

Rewatching Wargames for the first time in decades and wondering why I remember the first scene with Matthew Broderick so clearly. Not just dialogue but also the stage directions?
Then I remembered... Ready Player One
now watching the last standalone david lynch film before i delve back into the world of twin peaks. i don't know if i'll understand the famous disco elysium skill better, but i might channel my hatred of riverside and san bernadino into this. wish me luck.
I'd like to thank George Lucas, but mostly my father, who helped me look into my question of if Yavin 4 was a real place in 1987* for a lifelong love and respect for the Mayan culture, art and arcitecture.
*it took some doing to look this up pre-internet, children. My dad was a real mvp for this.
GEORGE C. SCOTT didn’t give a fuck about winning the Best Actor Oscar for PATTON (1971).

Author copies arrived of the Chthonic Matter Summer 2023 issue. Once again, CM Muller has put together an impressive looking book package. My horror fairy-tale mashup “The Wolf in the Witch’s House” is in good company.

MONDAYS...
What’s a movie you would sneak into the Criterion Collection? Absolutely, it’s this masterpiece.
Fun double feature today, filmsky!
Two cyberpunk road movies!
Cherry 2000 and Cyborg.
I really enjoyed the former. The latter is easier enjoyed with enjoyment enhancers. 🎥

Hey Filmsky, which movies have you watched the most times in the span of a year?
Easy. GREMLINS 1 and 2. I'd finish GREMLINS, rewind the tape in our 2nd VCR, and start watching GREMLINS 2. When GREMLINS 2 was over, I would swap the tapes and start again. Did that multiple times on weekends.
hey filmsky 📽️ what’s an actor/director pairing which never happened that should have happened?
Ok, I had my answer, it was Chishu Ryu and Mikio Naruse, but apparently Chishu Ryu appears in Street Without End. But he should have starred in a Naruse movie.
