How bioRxiv changed the way biologists share ideas – in numbers Four million articles are now downloaded from bioRxiv every month, according to an analysis of the life-science preprint server’s first 13 years of existence.

I'm a big fan of bioRxiv, so it was fascinating to dig into the stats behind the rise of this preprint server from its first 13 or so years for Nature News @nature.com 🧪 @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social #preprints

Paid maternity/parental leave for students and postdoctoral fellows

The Agencies will provide maternity/parental leave supplements within 12 months following a child’s birth or adoption to eligible students and postdoctoral fellows who are paid out of agency grants and who are the child’s primary caregivers. The supplement paid to the grant recipient will be based on the students’ and/or postdoctoral fellows’ current salary/stipend from the grant for up to 12 months to cover the leave period.

The agency-paid portion of parental leave is only eligible during the grant’s authority to use funds period as it is based on the agency-funded annual salary or stipend, not on other funding sources.

If both parents are supported by grant funds, each parent may take a portion of the leave for a combined maximum of 12 months. The supplement will be pro-rated if the student or postdoctoral fellow is being trained in research on a part-time basis.

The administering institution is responsible for submitting a request for paid maternity/parental leave supplements to students and postdoctoral fellows by completing the Grant Amendment Form for the relevant agency’s approval.

NBC News poll

Voters hold negative views of Al. In fact, the only topics less popular in the survey were the Democratic Party and Iran.

When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project

Not only is February brutal in Edmonton... the leasing market feels like this snowstorm too. The absorption rate has completely shifted.

Many of us predicted that Spring 2026 leasing would be different, but I don't think anyone expected this many units to hit the market at the same time.

Right now, tenants have options - lots of them.

They walk into a showing, and if the unit isn't exactly what they want...there is similar one just across a street.

What we're seeing right now is something we haven't seen in a while - a real competition between landlords.

free months of rent

gift cards

parking incentives

flexible move-in dates

upgraded appliances

utility credits

Everyone is trying to lease asap as the lender is coming at you and if you don't achieve proforma - you get to buy the rate down ouch!

For investors this means a few things: You need to be strategic, flexible, and realistic (!!!) with pricing and incentives.

Turns out building more homes makes housing more affordable.

Edmonton real estate investors are realizing that because so many options are on the market for tenants, they need to be sweetening the pot with incentives - and being "realistic" with rent.

Yeah, if what Tory did was nbd then no problem with us discussing it. On a near-daily basis until the election.

Tory boosters want to have their cake and eat it too.

Just like Tory.
