Key oceans treaty crosses critical threshold to come into force Sixty states have ratified a global treaty to protect the oceans - it will become law in January.

Fantastic news! The High Seas Treaty received its 60th ratification on Friday, meaning that it will now take effect from January. 🌊

The milestone deal will pave the way for international waters to be placed into marine protected areas. 🙌
