i know this is about personal taste so dw but the exarch confidence is fake. he's larping. that's been his character since crystal tower is larping as a "hero". if anything post shadowbringers he's probably overcompensating for how he acted like an oblivious jackass towards you in crystal tower
like i think people default to "if your character likes them they get a redemption arc" but that is NOT the case lmao. like the only one we know who's getting a literal arc like that is Fordola and it's way more realistic than people would think
i personally think it's interesting that the game doesn't fall into tropes you expect regarding that, like what they did with stormblood and revenge. emet doesn't get redemption but your character learns more about him and is at peace. zenos gets waaay more in that regard, but wol does NOT like him
