Don’t let the “art world” dictate what success looks like. A mural on the side of a school or a self-published poem does way more good for the world than an overpriced sculpture in some rich asshole’s 3rd house ever could

From my personal experience

Always be your #1 fan. Always hype what you made to yourself and be kind. Don't base yourself on others validation.

There will always be times where you think otherwise, HOWEVER! a fan never gives up on who they believe in, so neither should you in yourself.

Become obsessed with something, it's the easiest way to trick yourself into drawing a subject over and over

Less is more. Simplify and give the illusion of detail.

Stop zooming in so much when working digitally

you can ignore anatomy for the benefit of the overall piece. Leonardo da Vinci did it, Michelangelo did it, Dude McDude did it and you can do it too idk

Sometimes you do have to force it. There will be times when I would rather be doing something else, when I’m unmotivated and uninspired. If you have a goal you can’t always just wait it out. It’s important to give yourself breaks, but if you want to make something now is better than tomorrow.

Most big projects are only going to start coming together in the last 10% or so. You have to believe in yourself enough to resist the urge to scrap the whole thing most of the way through.
