The story is no longer polyamory, but that Lindy West has apparently spent her entire career as a public writer in a relationship with a nightmare person, and seemingly no one, from friends to the editors/publisher of this book, are willing or able to extract her open.substack.com/pub/fieldnot...
Wow.
That's right
A million "yikes" from me... I wish someone would ask him to define "import workers" and "the West". Immigration exists in most non-Western countries... Australia and New Zealand for example couldn't be more non-West and are entirely immigrant worker based populations.
Rick Fox with a beard?
@wutrain.bsky.social Fix the Red Line!!!
As a Pats fan. I approve!
I'm going to break the world record in the high jump that day
Can't they pick anyone else? Why does it have to be one of these two terrible regimes? Why aren't Iranians allowed to have elections, assuming the fall of the current terrible team...
Is this Elmer Fudd talking about Bugs Bunny?
Did you try turning it off, turning it back on?
Think of the savings!!
"Unlike other channels who say they HATE America!!!" Who, exactly is on the other side of this argument? This is absolutely insane.
OMG you did it!
Her husband is a border control agent... How is this unbiased in any way?
Looks like a thumbs up- as in the cloud "liked" your comment.
Peter must be SUPER annoyed at your use of "teaser" and sharing like 90% of the episode
@mcuban.bsky.social - you are advocating for a 'virtual hospital' where doctors can negotiate their rates... And free medical school. Congrats, you have discovered what unionization would look like for medical professionals for Single Payer systems. Merry Christmas!

Trump tax cuts. Change the Social Security cap so for capital gains over $1 Million you add a 3% Social Security tax? Cut Defense and Pentagon expenditures by $100B and increase $3 Billion to the IRS and $5 Billion to US AID, which ends up saving the US Taxpayer $6-10 Trillion over a 10 years/2
Using this logic, if you spend $0 for the Federal Budget there would still be $30 Trillion USD debt to pay off... Should we do nothing for both spending and tax revenues given that neither by itself would solve the problem? That isn't a good faith argument. Couldn't you instead say: Revoke the /1
Reasonable
Current annual medical expeditures in the US is $4.9 Trillion for medical care, all student loan debt combined is $1.8 Trillion and this for all current holders of debt, not just medical students. Why couldn't we just cancel some school debt and provide people the option to buy into Medicare?
Single payer isn't single provider. Insurance just states what it will pay for services rendered, hospitals are privately run and figure out payroll. It's just an expanded Medicare/Medicaid. If doctors "opt out", they will have a lot fewer patients and will need people who can afford to private pay
Realistically, I would view Ireland as a good example. Universal healthcare exists but private insurance and hospitals also exist. Why can't the US do something similar and just have an expanded private care practice while also having universal guaranteed coverage? This exists in other places
The ton of debt pieces is easy - there is the PSLF program and you can cancel student loan debt, you can greatly expand the scope and include a larger cohort there. Currently, insurance companies tell patients they can't get care. Is that better? You need to compare any changes to the status quo.
Robert Reich wants single payer insurance which would offer economies of scale and leverage to negotiate lower costs for medications. It's not perfect, but it's a logical starting point which you do not have a counterpoint against. How would you "save" small/local pharmacies? /2
Insurers want to be out of the prescription business as it isn't profitable for them. They want to offer the "benefit" of prescriptions without delivering medication. They would rather Cost Plus and other providers do that work and they just collect premiums. /1
HSA's are employer/income based and assumes you make an income and are only applicable to healthcare expenses- how would this go to non-employed people (single mom's/caregivers)? It's an expensive Obamacare subsidy that can only be used for health care costs- it isn't Universal Basic Income (UBI)
Workers rights advocates do not advocate for the "right" to berate a customer or for there to be no consequences to abhorrent actions. This article was written to meet a need for content by the Atlantic and not a need for an argument to be made or a story to be told.
