I'm pretty sure the manuals for Sonic 1 and 2 for Master System state the games are set on South Island, so that tracks.

I've drawn a panel for the next Sonic the Comic Reillustrated! Haven't picked up a pencil in a long time but pleased to find I haven't totally lost the knack! Keep an eye out for the finished project - 48 artists, redrawing a classic STC story, one panel each!

It's nice to have a cool pencil, fountain pen, good paper, etc.

But you don't need them to learn to draw.

Any pencil you have, a Bic pen, any paper [even a bread bag or cardboard box] will do for studying.

Don't wait for the ideal setup.

Focus on improving.

Panel One. Calvin is listening to a record. Calvin's dad says, "playing a record? I'll show you something interesting." Panel Two. Calvin's dad is pointing a two points of the record. He says, "Compare a point on the label with a point on the record's outer edge. They both make a complete circle in the same amount of time, right?" Calvin says "Yeah..." Panel Three. Calvin's dad says, "but the point on the record's edge has to make a bigger circle in the same time. So it goes faster. See, two points on one disk move at two speeds, even though they both make the same revolutions per minute!" Panel Tree. Calvin is in bed trying to sleep but he cannot because he is still thinking about this.

The same panel layout as the previous image, the record player has been replaced with Transformers of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and the text reads: "Collecting Transformers? I'll show you something interesting. Some transformers were taken from the Diaclone line. These represent full-sized vehicles at the scale of toys. Others were taken from the Micro Change line, representing objects at their original scale. Bumblebee is actually a small Penny Racer toy car. But in Transformers he is the same scale as Optimus Prime!"
