I suppose if you told it to do its best to turn user input into verb and noun combinations, that might be the most achievable thing. Quite bounded, doesn't require an extensive history. Though probably inconsistent and needs the context and history to make sensible choices.

The good news is that my business is booming. The bad news is that I hired my opponents and now they are blowing it up.

Not sure what happens if I ever stop paying my bills (so will keep local backups going ofc), and next stop will be setting up a build server ... but not just yet.

Getting P4 working took a bit longer, because P4, but now I've successfully done check-ins on desktop and on laptop in various places, and I feel a lot more secure vis a vis having it properly backed up and version controlled.

Just to update: I got the basic P4 (up to 5 users, yada yada) set up on AWS, following a vid on that by Perforce, and it's looking like around $1 per day for all of the infrastructure costs (running server, HD space, IP address, etc), and I can live with that for now. Wasn't too hard in the end.

If I read it correctly, the solution to the AI improvising and then losing the record (context) of the improvisation, they are forcing the AI only to describe places, people and things in the world. So maybe AI can add some bells and whistles to the text, but it is essentially a designed game...

I'll be interested to see if people familiar with ChatGPT will get their heads round it. Probably not. Glorious failure all the way though!

Thank you for looking into it so we don't have to. I am, as it happens, making a game with text adventure portions. I was asked if I was going to use AI/LLMs for the interpretation, but ... how? Why? For better or worse, I've knocked up a very old school text parser.

Fair, but my point is that if a company or person provided the advice that AI has provided, they would be sued out of existence or in prison by now. AI, and the people pushing it prematurely onto customers, are not held to the same standard.

One of life's cruel tricks is that you are not limited to one midlife crisis, I find, but may yours at least remain financially bounded and creatively sensible.

Not forgetting that a large part of their business is AI that doesn't work well enough, but which they are desperately pushing out with robotaxis and suchlike, because they, like everyone else, are desperately trying to keep the AI bubble puffed up. They will soon have bigger problems.
