My sorry not sorry view is that the EU should hyperfixate on Ukraine-Russia, work to provide logistics-only support to non-aggressor partners in the region, and otherwise stay the fuck out of this mini WWIII. Anything that entangles Europe in this mess makes everything worse for everyone.

Screen shot from the FT reporting that Trump wants China, the UK and Japan to send warships to force open the Strait of Hormuz.

I'm not saying Donnie "In The Files" Trump is going senile, but he seems to have forgotten already that he doesn't need anyone joining the war after he's already won it!

The absolute best case explanation for why Ministers are handing over vast troves of sensitive data to Palantir is that they are breathtakingly naive. Best case because the other explanations are: corruption or that they support its authoritarian, anti-human, far right agenda.

Strangely, this notice on the USEmbBaghdad account was posted only in Arabic.

The language posted on the TravelGov account emphasizes the travel advisory rather than the directive to leave immediately, although it links to the same web page.

And the StateDept account hasn’t posted about it at all.

The PDF file king has created a situation that is beyond his or it appears anyone's in his administrations capability to understand & now they want the same countries that he's been threatening for months to help them out because it impacts them too. It's a real question of intelligence for the rest

“… with a focus on making change via executive orders rather than legislation …”

We don’t have “executive orders” in the UK. Aside from some limited prerogative powers, ministers only have powers conferred on them by parliament, through legislation

Today, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights allowed the ACLU to exploit a hearing to try to force the United States to prematurely disclose arguments and evidence in two cases pending before U.S. federal courts. The IACHR lacks the competence to review the matters at issue and should not be a pawn in a domestic litigation strategy of the ACLU or any other party.

State Department irritated at having to publicly discuss the maritime killing spree before the IACHR.

For reference the 2 U.S. cases are:

—a suit by the families of 2 of the victims killed by the U.S.

—a suit seeking the disclosure of the secret OLC “murder memo” that authorizes the strikes

A tweet saying: Remind me to never again say, 'you cannot have your cake and eat it,' to my son. 5 hours later, I am still explaining that there is no cake, there was never any cake and I really don't ever want to hear the word 'cake' again for the rest of the year.

8 years later, son brings up this incident to assert that the saying is illogical. "What is the point of having a cake you can't eat?" I hereby concede defeat. Have you cake. Eat it. But please no more talk of cake. And he doesn't even LIKE cake. 🤷🏿‍♀️

And “not having time” simply does not wash where the catastrophic failures in character and competence are so overwhelming.

And that is America’s problem. There will still be all those American voters who cannot be trusted to do the decent or sane thing.

Sure …Republicans share the blame and certainly are responsible for failing to put the brakes on him (as is the Supreme Court.

But the buck stops with the voters they put him there. They could have stopped him.

“I’ve insulted you. Piled tariffs on you. Lied about you. Made your lives a misery. If I open my lips I lie. I’m totally untrustworthy. Appointed black hearted numbskulls to key positions. I started an illegal war. Messed up.

Now you should save me“

So long after Trump is dead and gone the world will know this. This is what American voters did. So don’t give me that bollox.

And AFTER Trump’s evident corruption, incompetence, lying and full blown display of a rotten, cruel character…not to mention staggering stupidity and total absence of class..
77 million Americans voted for him AGAIN and many more millions did not vote to stop him.

People are responsible for their votes and the consequences of their votes.

Democrats made errors for sure. But they needed a single additional Republican vote for impeachment. Republicans withheld that.

But - AFTER all that evidence. AFTER Jan 6.

IMPORTANT for we who aren't familiar with military "terms of art."

Pete Hegseth committed a crime when he said U.S. military would give "no quarter" to "our enemies."
- Hegseth was talking about Iran War.

Below U.S. military defense attorney Cody Harnish (www.harnish.law/codyharnish) explains why.

What a gorgeous day. Blue skies. Loads of ☀️ energy. 21.6 kWh. Spring is around the corner.

Great walk and when I was out walking I spotted the first of the English asparagus …so guess what I had for supper.

Trump might be a blight on the world but we can enjoy our lovely English pleasures.
