Not quite a classic (either for Campion or Aussie cinema as a whole), but full of quirky characters, strained relationships, bizarre scenes & beautiful cinematography. It's just a bit too slow, too stilted & too unfocused, but given it's her first film? It's not bad!

Confronting & frank about female sexuality while being as vague & symbolic as possible, and ultimately as beautifully rendered as something this out-there can be. Absolutely stunning combination of stop motion and painted cel animation at times, amazing stuff!
π Monkey Meat: the First Batch (Juni Ba, 2022)
A reread of the original five issues! Just as stylish and as original as it's always been, with a bite that's as playful as it is vicious. Definitely the beginning of something larger, almost to it's detriment, so I hope the Summer Batch goes deeper!
