We are deeply concerned about major cuts to funding for Māori news and current affairs programmes Te Karere and The Hui, by Te Māngai Pāhō.

This is terrible for Māori media, and sadly consistent with this Government’s continual undermining of Māori culture.

Has anyone grown Hokkaido squash? Also know as red kuri and Potimarron. I have some seeds from Kings, but I am in Tāmaki Makaurau and I am wondering if it is too late to plant them. My Austrian friends love this variety - it is pretty to grow & delicious roasted. #nzgardens, #aotearoagardens

I'm philosophically at odds with born again sibling, probably the other one as well, and lots of friends. And I feel a bit resentful. I shouldn't have to counter their rubbish with facts, when I can find them. Why can't they go looking?

I keep thinking about my parents. Both pre-WW2 & went through a lot. But life was good post war& my boomer brothers& husband had a lucky childhood. I grew up in a "blue"electorate & Dad was a solicitor. But he detested Muldoon, shook his head over Bastion Point & would never have voted for this lot

EEK!! A live hornet nest has just been found (and destroyed) in Auckland. This is a big species of stinging wasp. We really don't want these to establish.

Please keep an extra careful eye out for unusual wasps, especially if you're in the Auckland area.

You can post photos on iNaturalist NZ […]

Since our fat Harry was permanently stuck in "I eat all food all the time" phase, as he aged he was more of a pin you down and sneakily fart in your lap cat.

These coverage quirks are still a thing? The organisation I worked for in the '90's had to apply to the PSA to be covered. It wasn't until someone applied for extended sick leave for open heart surgery that we all found out we were not "entitled" to anything at all.

I picked a "Double Delight" this morning because I thought it was going to get smashed. But the wind never really got here today. It was just "breathy" in the remaining big trees.

I can't describe how sad and offended I am that innocent kids are being fed toxic slop for lunch and the ACT party are celebrating it. It's inexcusable. I hope they survive and thrive in spite of it, and remember.

I was listening to a podcast about the fish-tetrapod transition a couple of nights ago and it's a miracle any of it works. Especially the little ear bones.
Pleased for you. Hope it lasts. 🀞

Shame on this government for the deeply racist Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Amendment Act, just passed into law.

We have ducted heat pumps here. But my partner works from home and just heats the office. We turn the heating on in the late afternoon (in the cold weather). Otherwise it's woolly boots/socks and thermal underwear. And we are in Auckland.

This whole thing exasperates me. I had a person that could not hold a pencil, but was 99.9 % verbal intelligence.
And I was writing for dyslexic kids who could sail a super yacht and write a business plan, but couldn't pass L1 Geo.

It's been a while, but in school exam assistance is parent volunteers. External exams teams are paid, but I am not sure how that happens. I think the support is assigned via the MOE, which means the school has to have the resources etc to apply.
