Also I miss 90s mvs where they would just cut a bunch of movie clips into an already completed music video, like yes it’s dumb, but it’s also so nostalgic

I had completely forgotten that Deadeye Dick’s song “new age girl” was not just on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack, but had an amazing (ripe for gif-ing) autumnal mv full of pumpkin heads rocking out with the band. Wow. 1994 🎃

I used to take these books out of the dumpster of the bookstore i worked next door to and read them voraciously — would have been a cool show!

It’s missing a few parts but honestly idc!!! It’s for me!! I can’t believe how well taken care of it is…the thrift store did use packing tape on the outside to keep it closed and even removing it so slowly messed it up a little, but I’ll never sell this, it’s for my collection 😆
The only thing more exciting (and honestly this was thrilling) would have been to find the Fisher Price Tudor house (which I did have and was my favorite toy for years) or the 80s Big Bird record player
I never, NEVER, have exciting thrift finds but today I walked into a small shop I hadn’t been to before and found an impeccably taken care of, possibly complete, Fisher Price Sesame Street set. Look at the price😳

That book was such a big deal when it came out — even for later elementary school kids like me — because we all knew the originals. It just kinda permeated the culture. My kids also didn’t care for it

I mean this is my fault — we have these books laying around the house but they haven’t shown much interest so I’ve never pushed them.
I casually mentioned Thumbelina to my kids the other day and they didn’t know what I was talking about. I realized there just isn’t a ton of retold fairy tales or tall tales/folk stories in the content they consume?? It was everything when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s !

As someone who watched Felicity darling Keri Russell win a Golden Globe in 1999 (with her fellow former Mousketeer Tony Lucca as her date,) I am very happy to see her finally go home with another statue tonight — been a long time coming !
