Today a man on the radio said "J-double-R-Tolkien" and I couldn't hear anything after that.

The tin is a lovely reminder of the city of Norwich which was home between 2003-5 when I was at @uniofeastanglia.bsky.social doing my Masters degree and then working for the @rspb.bsky.social I fondly remember the city and friends I made there. Norwich is the home also of Colman's Mustard

I don't see it as a challenge rather a gentle rebalancing, a reminder of how much the world is about reciprocity. There is nothing magical here, except in the dialogue between me as an individual and the wholeness of being, where "I" can be both part/whole, separate/together at the very same moment.

Today I drew the Jack of Spades -" Give". Spades are resource cards, helping us manage ourselves so we can act with intention from the heart of our values. This card helps me to bring my awareness to the act of giving, the importance of relationship and reciprocity.

The Cards are the creation of Drs Jane Myat, her husband Simon Lewis, and artist Chrissie Nicholls. Jane and Simon: "They helped us find our footings again, reminded us of what could be true, what is good and beautiful in a world that can be dazzling, confusing and full of conflict".

I have found the perfect tin for my pack of The Cards. This Colman's Mustard tin has enough room for my pack and a little notebook. I've started a daily visit to the pack for inspiration during this month and as a pattern explorer and shifter I'm intrigued at the possibilities.

How You Can Help Regenerate the Earth in 2025
YouTube video by Joe Brewer How You Can Help Regenerate the Earth in 2025

This is not a drill. Now is the time to get busy organizing in your own community to restore ecosystems and create local living economies. Let's do this.

Imagine what would happen if people all over the world realized that they could take power into their own hands and create their own regenerative economies where they live.

I don't imagine for one minute Trump has any long term plans for transformative change to a more networked localised holarchy, but the chaos he and his cronies are inducing in their thoughtless power grab offers an opportunity to build localised resilience in the vacuum.

While everything about Trump feels abhorrent to liberal progressives the current globalised system of government and growth economy is not a stable system and is doomed to collapse, as all complex societies have before.

But yes hard with only 300 characters. It also doesn't have to be either/or. Can be less government locally to allow diversity of education and planning and more centrally to govern defence and health..principal of subsidiarity.

It is hard, and these are all reasons why some government is necessary to support people. But at present all central governments are signed up to a growth economy which perpetuates and increases inequalities, and normal people have little choice but to follow. It's a wicked problem-no right/wrong

The irony is I don't think Trump is heading down the road of small government, he will need to police the changes he is making to the American system to ensure compliance!

While this may be true there is a balance because too much government control can also lead to a reduction in diversity of lived experiences- what is a 'normal citizen?' and the burden on the taxpayer due to increased bureaucracy.

The Broken Plate 2025 The Food Foundation's 2025 Broken Plate report examines the state of the nation's food industry

Telling folks to just "plug in to community" rn is well-meaning and if you can do that, wonderful. But most people are not super connected to community for many reasons. So, if you don't have community rn that's ok, consider finding 2-5 ppl you can form a pod with.

Wonderful day at Global Generation in Camden on a Community Build. Building cob walls, making chestnut shakes sharpening stakes for hurdles.Dirty hands and the smells of river clay from kings cross and chestnut shavings from Sussex woodlands, aching limbs and a big smile
In my happy place!
