I started being consistently active on insta in 2024 for bookstagram, and this was reluctantly so because my brain has never liked insta as a social platform. My page was taking shape. I was getting comfortable!

I have just started this book, and let me tell you, it is not for the weak of heart. There is enough trauma in the first two chapters to last several lifetimes. I feel like I owe it to Charlotte Roberts to witness her story and triumph from such a life.

I listened to The Kite Runner a few days ago, and I remembered my time in AFG, the history and culture I studied to get ready for my deployment, and the people I met. I wondered what AFG would have been if it had been left to thrive instead of picked clean by political and religious vultures
I was in Afghanistan in 2013. The very first time I left base I was in full kit, in an up-armored truck, and behind a gun. In the town outside the FOB there were people living their everyday lives, and I will never forget the children doing fake karate and playing soccer. Yet I was afraid.
Started the first Bridgerton audio book, I’ve watched all the seasons. I think the adaptation for the show was so smart. This is a fun fake dating historical romance novel, but as it is wouldn’t translate to TV 1:1 and be nearly as interesting.
It’s on my list!
