messages are planned to be deprecated eventually since you can do the same thing by creating an entity, adding a component that serves as the message contents, then deleting it at the end of the frame. and the entity message is a lot more flexible. but theyll probs make messages into a separate API

and structs cant be subclasss like thursday is doing. you could use objects as your messages but then you can run into garbage collection issues… aaarrgghhh where are my discriminated unions!!! give them to me already!!!!!

but you gotta build ur project around it ofc. seems very tricky to work with callback-heavy structures since they work best when you have a tightly controlled gameloop.

yeah SOA is realllyyy powerful especially for stuff like event queues. moontools has this as “messages”, you’ll usually use them to tell systems later in the frame to do something (like play a sound effect) and it seems pretty easy to replicate since it uses generics.
