When shootings happen, we call for deescalation, policy reform, and solutions to the underlying causes of gun violence.

They call for more guns, more violence, and a war on anyone who opposes them.

We are not the same.

My main observation from the last few hours of monitoring US social media is that Democrats are universally denouncing political violence and calling for calm while MAGA are escalating language and openly lusting for retribution against broad categories of people they identity as their enemies.

There’s no question that we are now a country that has extreme racism, sexism and disregard for the rule of law. We just didn’t know how bad it was until the worst (Trump & his friends) crawled out from under their rocks and rallied those like them.

It was likely staged.

And corrupt.
