Fun fact: there are so-called "decorator" or "collector" urchins that purposefully cover themselves with bits and bobs of shell, seaweed and other stuff.
And then someone made little hats for them...

π Satellite data reveal that Antarcticaβs shrinking sea ice isnβt just a climate statistic: itβs reshaping the entire Southern Ocean food web.

Hey you! Did you know that #fishing is one of the deadliest professions in the world? But labor laws are extremely shitty when it comes to stuff happening far away and under unclear jurisdiction. Something good just happened, though. π

24.02.2026 21:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Was in a fisheries meeting talking about how to improve financing for supply chains to ensure product availability to the coastal communities. Every single man insisted that to be effective only women should get loans. The men would mismanage it all. So thereβs that.

Also don't eat farmed shrimp, as a general rule. That stuff is nasty. And terrrrrible for the environment.
There is a reason restaurants can afford those all-you-can-eat shrimp buffets.
lucky girl :)
23.02.2026 19:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There is no fishery for Atlantic salmon (humans did a number on their habitat so there aren't enough to catch and sell) so all "Atlantic salmon" you see, whether from Chile, Scotland, Norway or elsewhere is all farmed. I've seen "wild-caught Atlantic salmon" on a menu before. Giant lie. Or a crime.
