cartoon saying we all may look and think differently but inside us we all have one thing in common: microplastics

individually we can't behavior-change our way out of the plastics crisis - policy fixes are a must

even so, I've cut WAY back on drinking hot coffee to-go (cups all lined w/ plastic that disintegrates in hot acidic coffee) & on bottled water (way more #microplastics than in most tap water)

Flourishing chemosynthetic life at the greatest depths of hadal trenches - Nature The discovery of chemosynthesis-based benthic communities at depths of 5,800 m to 9,533 m in the Kuril–Kamchatka and western Aleutian trenches challenges traditional perspectives on the energy sources...

An incredible discovery that challenges our assumptions about how complex life can thrive in the deepest and more remote places in the ocean.
