I just saw an ICE recruitment commercial and it took me almost the whole thing to realize it wasn’t a joke. It felt like a spoof of the propaganda videos in a scifi movie.

Summer Fridays are cool, and so are No Meetings Fridays, but I offer as an alternative the Bare Minimum Friday. It’s alright to scrape by and make it to the weekend. Be kind to yourself friends.

I just got an email from Netflix that was like “The ending of Wayward, explained!” No thanks, I watched the show. I understand what happened. WTF is this. They did the same for Black Rabbit, which had an ending as subtle as jumping off a roof.

It’s juiced up Markov chains running on way too many GPUs. The tech is actually pretty cool, in that the scale at which it can do next token prediction is kind of insane. But you’re 100% spot on about the marketing/hype driving the “intelligence” narrative.

I only had a cup of tea with the 80s, but if it was anything like the early 90s there were also ample gumdrops and butterscotch hard candies.

Now in that weird space where I have to let this draft marinate for some time so I can approach it with fresh(ish) eyes. What am I meant to do in the meantime? Write the next one? Alright, I guess I’ll start writing the next one…

I’m in a similar position, so I have to ask: do you ever witness a strong misalignment in opinions between leadership and employees who identify strongly as a member of the religion? For instance, the Catholic Pope is very much against what ICE is doing, but I work with people who are all for it.

The best thing about doing what you love for a living is not having to deal with the Sunday anxiety and starting your week with excitement and fervor. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that’s like, but I hope some of you get to experience it!

Shit, I’m really enjoying the MISTBORN trilogy. I’m going to end up going down the slippery slope of reading all of the COSMERE.
