SOME DAY

It is only the world, and only your time in it; it is only
the last breath, very soft. Now the hours can go home:
they always wanted the quiet they have found.

It is only your faults that wander now — no place
for them to go. But finally they will lie down
too, since no one will care any more.

Some place on the earth it may happen, may catch the light,
some day again, like the way Sunday was, or
when you crossed through the door the last time —

And the only thing left, your way of leaning your head,
will catch in that shadow and then slip and be gone.

Fraser MacDonald · Diary: Remembering Nan Shepherd The novels weren’t the point. The point of Nan Shepherd was herself. My mother described what a thrill it was to be...

‘There’s the power of good writing and the power to deem writing good; these are different things with distinct geography (elsewhere needn’t be so far away: Edinburgh-based Canongate is an ingredient in Shepherd’s revival).’

"I’m reading Ephesians. It’s so good. I think. I haven’t had time to read it, but it feels important. Blaise Pascal says there's an empty space in the human heart that only God can fill. That is so true. I agree. I underline." - James W. Miller mrbullbull.com/newbull/flas...
