also offtop but it's REALLY funny to me how my header on twitter and other sites has been this old edited photo of a random page from some kind of textbook with the words "you are now an upright headless torso" for YEARS and now we have *gestures vaguely at amphoreus*

sorry i can't be Critical about it rn because my brain has been feeling like mush these past couple of weeks when it comes to lore and theories so i can only read and like what others post and discuss but yeah you really popped the fuck off

call me irontomb the way i'm headless now because you blew my head straight off my neck with this thread. this theory is just so. Elegant i think would be the right word because it ties some of these loose ends so well i can't help but sit there in awe

but madoka never had any blatant marriage imagery anywhere (except maybe the veil but you don't have to necessarily associate it with a bride outfit imo), all of it came from elysia and makes NO sense with cyrene's role in the amphoreus story

the thing is, i feel like in some ways the more unique parts of cyrene's character DO feel closer to madoka than elysia, with how she stays powerless and confined to the role of an observer till like the second to last episode and how her Love is closely tied to Hope more than anything else

i could've made the "it's a madoka reference" excuse for the bow but not for the veil, the marriage-themed skill zone and the ring in the ult animation 😭

(unless, ofc, it's people who only scream about waifubait which is like. also present, i can't lie, but far from being the only/main issue with cyrene. also i don't think cyrene the character (or elysia) should be catching strays for hoyo's writing/marketing decisions)

also yeah the cyrene-elysia problem is getting more and more noticeable and i'm tired of people reducing it to "you just hate this character cause they're an expy/cause you're misogynistic" and "how can you hate something so pretty" like IT'S NOT EVEN HATE, IT'S GENUINE CRITIQUE OF HOYO'S WRITING

also!! it would be in hoyo's best financial interest to make chrysos heirs real and set them loose in the universe just to always have the option of making already beloved characters return as sps in later versions

now that i think about it, i feel like maybe one of the reasons for evernight's presence in the story was teasing the possibility of alternative solutions and reinforcing the idea that this is NOT our answer

tldr KILLING OFF THE CHRYSOS HEIRS INSTEAD OF FIGHTING FOR THEIR FUTURE AS REAL PEOPLE WOULD GO AGAINST EVERYTHING TRAILBLAZING STANDS FOR

and if we end with them sacrificing everything, amphoreus included, to stop irontomb and they will end up forgotten by the world and only living on in our memories, then what was the point of everything we did. herta could have just nuked the scepter and called it a day, just like march said lmao

the whole point of amphoreus story is rebelling against fate and gods and calculations even if you feel small and powerless. we spent 8 patches watching the chrysos heirs throw their lives away for the sake of saving the world

and this understanding is precisely what makes this outcome so heartbreaking but it also just /feels right/

so seeing it get destroyed for the sake of saving the world and them giving it their all once again was devastating because elysian realm was ALL that was left of them but we know how they are and that they would never hesitate to throw it all away to save humanity

i feel like the reason why it hit so hard with hi3 is because we KNOW that elysian realm is a tomb/memorial for fallen heroes, that they have already died for their cause and we're here to witness what they were like and honor their sacrifices

i'm starting to get anxious about the ending after seeing some 3.7 leaks but i feel like the cathartic ending for amphoreus WOULD be everyone getting to live their lives without being bound by fate or duty anymore, i don't think seeing everyone sacrifice everything AGAIN would be satisfying at all

THE WAY I STARTED CRYING THE SECOND HE SHOWED UP + the fact that phainon sounded EXACTLY like the hero within, very lighthearted and optimistic and encouraging in a way i don't think we've ever heard phainon speak before was soooooooo *clenches fists*

no cause why is he the ONLY hp-scaler who couldn't take advantage of the hp meta for the entirety of v3 because it was aimed at remembrance and/or tied to hyacine who doesn't synergize well with him 😭 bro got zero dedicated supports HE'S JUST RAW-DOGGING EVERYTHING
