Yep, they clearly didn’t care if they dragged the team down waiting for their asking price to be met. Although devaluing your product certainly doesn’t help long term either.

It’s amazing how low the Lerner stock has gone. They don’t even have the MASN dispute excuse anymore.

Yep. It’s small market payroll at big market prices!

Yep. And in a way winning the 2019 WS seemed to satisfy their bucket list and then decided they didn’t need to do it again. Team was hell bent on winning before, and now barely cares to finish .500.

Yep, and the guys who turned out decent in the Soto deal are already on the block. Difference between 2012 and now is at least the Nationals spent money to bolster the young lineup. Now they seem committed to pushing the reset button. Again.

That’s the thing about rebuilds. It’s easy to start. Not easy to get out of it.

I remember with the Scherzer deal people were confident they’d be back by 2025. (Checks calendar)

Definitely have to worry more about generating offense the rest of the way. Clearly limiting what the Canes do in their end and not generating many shots is a tough way to win the series.

The last time the Capitals had 14 shots in a playoff home game, it was the end of the 1990 Wales Final where the team was depleted. Washington got five shots on net last night after the Protas goal, two after the equallzer. Not going to win the series without pushing back.

That sounds about right. Not often they made lives easier on themselves. Most were 6 or 7 varieties.

35 years ago yesterday, Washington won its first second round series in team history as John Druce scored in overtime of Game 5 to eliminate the Rangers, and send the Capitals to their first-ever games in May.

Yeah. I thought originally it was and thought unusual. But now I think he got rung for the profanity.

ESPN had a replay where Wilson appeared to say something not PG-13 so may be why. They seemed to not want to give the Caps a four minute PP.

Yeah, it’s funny, guys most of the time tried five-hole because no goalies drop. That is just a random shot on net.
