3/5 Within this we want to acknowledge the disproportionate nature of Treaty 13, or the Toronto Purchase, which traded roughly one thousand square kilometres for a cash payment of 10 shillings, about $60 today, and some flint, kettles, hats, rum, and flannel.

2/5 We also recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples both in Tkaronto and across Turtle Island. Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties, signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
