Red horse chestnut street tree in North Berkeley, 14APR2025

The tree is a cultivated hybrid of the North American red buckeye (of Ohio fame) and the European horse chestnut. It blooms earlier (as in right now!) than the native, white-blossomed, California buckeye (which will bloom in May, locally).
