Mamoru Oshii's first live-action feature, "The Red Spectacles" (1987), is coming back in Japanese theaters on March 21.
The film, set in the same universe as "Jin-Roh" (and "Kerberos Panzer Cop"), was recently restored in 4K via a crowdfunding campaign.

Top 10 films in Japan BO for 2024 are shaping up and it looks like not one live-action foreign film made it (2 animated films did). This is probably a first. Hollywood just cannot break into the Japanese market.

The dream of Directed by Yasujirō Ozu is that its hopefully many readers will be filled with desire to see the films and rush to the theater before they finish reading, or else will be reduced to trembling with anger whenever Ozu is not being screened and declare the situation unjust and inexcusable.
