New Substack post. New energy. New goals. Feeling nerdy and mildly accomplished.

Chicago artist Jazmin Rodriguez’s playful prints are "love letters" to the city.
The Humboldt Park native draws vibrant digital illustrations of the city, inspired by the folkloric art of her Mexican and Puerto Rican heritage. blockclubchi.co/3XM8s9D
For anyone interested in the Japanese underground music scene, Kaala has created a really COOL AF Substack reporting directly from Japan. If you're on Substack I highly recommend checking it out or sharing with a friend who might like it!

If the whole population of people in a country aren't democratically and collectively deciding how a society is run, it's NOT communism. Even if the evil dictator (or less evil government) says.
Socialism and Communism are about COLLECTIVE ownership of production and decision making. Not state.
This is exactly what Trump is testing right now. Testing how much he can get away with and how much we will tolerate.
The strategy is intentional.
"Power concedes nothing without a demand... Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found the exact measure of Injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both."
Frederick Douglass
I don't need a partner, I just need a rent-a-boyfriend to come over and daddy me when I'm dealing with weird health shit. Otherwise I seem to be adulting just fine.
A lot of folks look at the 35% of people who didn't vote this time as our enemy. I see them as potential comrades who feel disillusioned and betrayed by the system. There's a lot of possibility in a country where a whole lot of us agree that the system as it is is failing.
Turns out all the checks and balances we thought the American system had were actually just the honor system and fear of disapproval.
I dunno know maybe we needed a true narcissist to make it clear what holes we need to plug.
Ah damn it turns out this whole political system relies on false assumptions about how big of an asshole someone could be
Now that I've made peaceful revolution impossible it's time to sit back and enjoy my wealth and power with no adverse consequences
With American deregulation, you’d be nuts to buy American now. Don’t get sick, buy Canadian. 🇨🇦🍁
I am committed to prioritizing comradeship over interpersonal drama. I am committed to the humanity of all people. To tolerating conflict for the sake of repair. To the belief that safetu, dignity and belonging are prerequisites for personal transformation.

Ohhhh the colorssss
My third party voter friends are far more politically involved than me. They’re out there doing the work in a way I have not been.
And I’m also pretty fucking burned out on vote blue no matter who. Call me radical, but wouldn’t it be nice to feel excited about a candidate?
This is something I've identified as one of my biggest areas for growth this year. As someone who loves people but has social anxiety, I will respond joyfully to a lighthearted interaction, but I will avoid to the ends of the Earth someone who might want literally anything from me. Needs work.
The thing to understand about Trump is like in his first term, he doesn’t want to govern. He doesn’t want to learn. He wants to campaign and look good.
Republicans know this. So there are battles going on right now to take control of the actual process of governing.
Assess and readjust and keep going.
Yesterday, ICE raided a business in New Jersey and detained both citizens and non-citizens — without a warrant. They even detained a U.S. military veteran.
Nobody is safe.
I'm yearning for a community of people who have hope in the future and are committed to being involved.
While anger and fear and grief and hopelessness are all healthy normal responses to what we're facing, coming at me and trying to take MY hope away is not the energy I'm tolerating right now.
Grateful for my boys in Shame Banger and everyone showing up for The Bitter's final show last night. It's hard to get people moving sometimes but damn the love overflows in this city. ❤️
