Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

For those worrying about the cold, folfs are actually well-accustomed to colder climates, just like huskies. Glad to see one in a natural environment.

If someone can spew fire from their hands and burn someone for potentially 3 or 4 times the damage a sword wielder can put out, then you need to find other ways to nerf them, creating nonsensical "rules" that exist solely to balance out what would otherwise be a poorly balanced system.

I'm realizing something as I work on my project.

My problem isn't actually with soft magic systems. It's with magic systems that don't seem to have consequences. If someone can get force amplification like that with little to no risk to themselves, it starts bringing non-magic users into question.

Seconding this for illustration, or really any artform. If you fully engross yourself in a medium you will naturally pick up pieces of what you see and more easily implement them in your own work. Surround yourself with what you like to see and what you want to be a part of.

Seeing people forgive and ignore intense violence like what we're seeing in Minnesota is abysmal. It reminds me just how much hypocrisy remains in the world of organized religion, and reinforces my idea that faith doesn't automatically make you a good person. Actions do. Prove it while you can.

Having grown up in a heavily Catholic environment, the amount of shame and guilt lumped onto people the moment you "failed them" was awful to see. If you made a mistake... if something happened outside of your control... all that love quickly turned to hate and abandonment.

I try not to say divisive stuff at the best of times, but I can say this much for certain: if a religious person's "love" and "empathy" die when someone is outside of their social circle, they can safely fuck right off with that shit. Introspection is a bitch, and more people need to do it.
