One of my favorite vaccine facts is the antigen load across all routine vaccines today is 90% less than that in the 1950s-1980s when killed whole vaccines were common.

Women's pain is already undertreated. There's no easy alternative to acetaminophen in pregnancy. Aspirin and Ibuprofen have actual negative proven effects on a fetus.
Also stop blaming mothers.
This misinformation will hurt people.
I enjoyed when the in-person feed cut out and it was just Dr. Meissner thinking it was his internet and was troubleshooting. We've all been there.

Fails, thankfully.
Great comment by non-panel member that vaccines are for primary prevention as a public health strategy which has totally been lost of the panel for the past 8 hours.

19.09.2025 19:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Very good points being made by Hillary Blackburn (pharmacist) and Dr. Cody Meissner as to why vote no on this vote. This vote will be close.
Again many of the members don't understand how these votes are going to actually play out in real life.
From the ACIP website. The current group did not follow this guidance.
19.09.2025 19:10 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0According to the ACIP (historically), they define it as "In this context, CDC defines a health care provider as anyone who provides or administers vaccines: primary care physicians, specialists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and pharmacists." So techs would not count.
19.09.2025 19:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One member just suggested to amend this and strike "require a prescription."
That would make the vote, "It is the sense of the committee that state and local jurisdictions should for the administration of a COVID-19 vaccination."
????
Passed 11-1.
19.09.2025 19:01 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0True, I think practically - at least at most pharmacies - they don't give vaccines in the shared decision making category. Maybe if you do a minute clinic appointment.
19.09.2025 19:00 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Again, this is so vague that none of the members understand what this vote would mean. In the presentation an example to be added on the VIS was the vaccine may cause birth defects (which is false). ACIP historically does NOT usually vote on this type of vote.
19.09.2025 18:56 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The individual ACIP members don't seem to understand what they are voting on right now. Voting yes on #4 is requiring shared decision making with a healthcare professional. This would prevent people from walking into a pharmacy and just getting the vaccine. They are all twisted up in terminology.
19.09.2025 18:52 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1There is a different vote (#2) that would require a prescription. I don't know if ACIP has that authority though.
Shared decision making is different and is a conversation between a health care provider and a patient about risks/benefits.
"We know children are biting children on the playground"
-Public comment for why universal Hep B vaccination at birth is beneficial.
lol. ACIP is basically giving NO guidance to the US population. Everything is "individual" risk. Practically speaking, this will cause fewer and fewer people getting vaccinated.
19.09.2025 18:38 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0It's conflicting when one theme for the committee has been individual choice / freedom, yet 2 of the votes (requiring a script and this complex sentence) are the exact opposite.
19.09.2025 18:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Here is one example: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
"In this multisite observational cohort study, of 42โฏ156 pregnancies ending in live birth, first-trimester COVID-19 vaccination was not associated with increased risk for selected major structural birth defects."
This is the type of misinformation that is going to lead to decreased vaccination among pregnant women and result in more sick infants. WILD statement being made. The data is clear that the COVID vaccines are not associated with birth defects.

New ACIP group will be discussing thimerosal in vaccines next week. This will be a good litmus test for the new panel.
(It's a preservative used only in multi-dose vials and shown to be safe in large studies.)

30.05.2025 00:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0When Americans raised concerns about RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine views, he said he was "not gonna take away vaccines from anybody."
But now he's taking them away from millions of mommas and babies.
Vaccine recommendations should be based on science, not RFK Jr.'s political agenda.
Or, you could try just not giving a tax break to the rich.
