His phone prompts her to look for her own, patting herself down for her phone. When she locates it she seems to calm down, shoulders slouching. Amala blinks at her slightly cracked screen before typing out and showing him the following:

Her breath begins heaving with deep breaths, lips parting as she does. She’s not panicking, it was more of something to calm herself down. Not working. Other than that she doesn’t move and it takes her a moment to even acknowledge his question.

The pain when she sits up is miniscule to how disoriented she feels. Placing her hand on her ears and feeling her hearing aids, her neutral gaze remains on the person in front of her. To her credit, she’s not panicking. Not yet.

It’s not as if she doesn’t have her own insecurities, but there is nothing she cannot push through. She can handle her own.

So it’s with great confusion that when she wakes it is not in her bed or uncomfortably on her desk—it's on a roof, with a raven haired stranger, above an unknown city.

Amala prides herself in, if nothing else, being independent. Able to take care of herself despite the doubts and concerned glances casted her way. She cannot help how people view her, but she can help how she views herself.
