TIL: seagulls in flight can shit at 45 degrees through our patio doors and hit the middle of our living room.
Isnβt nature wonderful?
That is a stunning photograph - love to see a raptor hunting.

Bunhill Fields Burial Ground is a cool haven in a hot, sticky and factious London.
Taking a few moments to escape the humidity and enjoy some quiet reflection with an old friend.
Just watched our resident sparrow hawk do her thing in the garden.
In other news, itβs not a good day to be a sparrow.

I'm rereading Joe Moran's 'First You Write a Sentence - The Elements of Reading, Writing β¦ and Life.'
It's just as much fun the second time around.
It's a witty homage to the joy of a beautifully written sentence and the power they have when we read.
Recommended.
Beautiful images.
26.04.2025 08:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I had an itch for some non-fiction so I have been re-reading Orwell's 'Down and Out in Paris and London' and Didion's 'Slouching Towards Bethlehem'. Both books are a masterclass in sentence construction and cadence. A reminder of the power of the English language.

You really don't need to turn it off. It's not plug and play. It's plug and forget.
Cycling makes me feel better. I have only done 16 miles this week, as my fitness needs some work after being ill for months, but the simple act of getting on the bike and pootling about is good for me.
Sunshine, wildlife, avoiding the traffic and human-powered movement. All good.
Further adventures in coffee (I live a quiet life π). I tried making my first batch of cold brew yesterday - 50g of coarse ground beans and 800ml of water.
Seeped for 12 hours in filtered water and it's produced a sweet and tasty brew on the first attempt.
Very nice. β
It's a good question. The Picoexpress manual tells me to use a very fine grind, so I tried that on my Sage Barista Express using setting 3, but there was a slight sour note to the shot which suggest it's too coarse. Will try 2 next and see what happens. Further updates to follow. π

1st experiment with Al Fresco Espresso, with my Foster Jennison collective xmas present. I want to cycle more so decent coffee is a useful motivator for me and adds a mini adventure element to the ride. Espresso was good, but grind settings weren't quite right for this one. All part of the fun.
