A fairly new PhD student with a broader focus on all canine hookworms, but specifically the genomics and transcriptomics of Uncinaria stenocephala. U. stenocephala is frequently overlooked despite being ubiquitous in temperate regions!

If there’s any resemblance to the outbreaks of resistance in Australia, Canada, America and India for canine hooks then it’s likely that resistance will be widespread in human hooks in the absence of drug-stewardship! 🧵
It means the widespread mutations Q134Y, F167Y, E198A and F200L causative to resistance in dog hooks that are already documented in human hooks are now known to be causal to benzimidazole resistance. 🧵
