always great to have some words from the pdx testimony goat 🫡
finally submitting mine now! join me!
if you haven't already submitted a comment in support of more homes in the central eastside, now's the time to do it! PNW made it easy, follow the link below:
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you to @councilormorillo.bsky.social for introducing and @councilorgreen.bsky.social and @candaceavalos.bsky.social for cosponsoring! Housing champions like you make our work possible <3
55 of you have submitted testimony in favor so far! www.portland.gov/council/docu... If you also want to tell council that we need an Inner Eastside for All, please submit today if you can- the first hearing is tomorrow at 9:30AM! <3 portlandneighborswelcome.org/ie4a-resolut...
“Economists say cities like Portland desperately need to build housing to improve affordability. But those units are not being built quickly enough. Data shows the city approved only 1,223 permits for new homes in 2025, the lowest number since 2010 in the wake of the Great Recession.”
Tomorrow my Inner Eastside For All Resolution to spur housing production will be heard at the Climate Committee! The Committee is being dissolved and I will not be a chair anymore, but I am proud to bring this forward as one last piece of legislation through there.

Just a small sampling of the amazing testimony submitted so far. You can find our testimony guide here: portlandneighborswelcome.org/ie4a-resolut...
Wow! 36 of you have already submitted written testimony in support of an Inner Eastside for All! Thank you! It is incredibly important for Council to hear why ordinary Portlanders support more homes for all our neighbors! www.portland.gov/council/docu...
The Residential Infill Project took 6 years to get through the process. www.sightline.org/2021/08/06/t...
We're now almost 2 years since the Inner Eastside Area Planning Project to the Housing Production strategy. I don't know if BPS has yet realized the new council doesn't want to wait another 4.
Next Thursday’s gonna be fun. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please go submit testimony in supporting of building tons and tons of more homes in Portland’s central Eastside. The link below makes it easy:
Thank you to @councilormorillo.bsky.social for introducing the resolution and @councilorgreen.bsky.social for cosponsoring!
ACTION ALERT: Support an Inner Eastside for All! We need your written testimony to support a resolution that would speed up the re-legalization of building apartments in Portland's high opportunity and amenity-rich Inner Neighborhoods! portlandneighborswelcome.org/ie4a-resolut...
"Oregon’s legislature passed a bill that modernizes the state’s “inclusionary zoning” statute by giving Portland-area cities more flexibility in how they design affordability mandates for new buildings, but only if they offset those costs."
For those of you following on with the unbudgeted housing funds work session, we have been talking in reference to a one-pager* that mine and @councilormorillo.bsky.social offices developed ahead of this session. Here's that link.
* it's two sided
Thank you to PNW volunteers for submitting written and oral testimony, to our policy advocacy partners, to our pro-homes champions in the legislature, and to all PNW members for supporting our grassroots organization.

Earlier this session, the legislature passed SB 1523 and HB 4123, two bills brought forth by tenant advocates; PNW endorsed these measures for tenants rights as well.
Today, the House passed SB 1567 to establish a $20m Construction Revolving Loan Fund to provide subsidized loans to build mixed-income housing.
The House also just passed SB 1521 to create more flexibility and greater guardrails for Inclusionary Zoning programs.
Two big PNW priority bills! #orleg
Big news out of Salem:
Four PNW-endorsed bills to build more homes and support tenants' rights have passed through both chambers of the legislature and are headed to the Governor's office for signature.
Four meaningful bipartisan victories for stable and affordable housing! #orleg
We've got work to do!
we've got work to do!
Whether you're on a student team, a long time member, or just someone looking to learn more about Portland: Neighbors Welcome and single-stair, we're excited to see you there!
Monthly Happy Hour Thursday!
Time: Thursday, March 5th, 6pm - 8pm
Place: Migration Brewing (outdoor patio) - 3947 N Williams Ave
Join us for this month's happy hour! This month we are focused on all things single-stair as part of the DREAM Single-Stair Design Competition.
The kicker is that the report says dual stair adds 12.5% to the cost of units. For the cost of a $800,000 unit, $100,000 is simply for the extra stair.
Shoutout to @sightline.org's @andersem.bsky.social, who just testified in support of SB 1521 to reform and fully fund inclusionary zoning, to the House Rules committee this afternoon.
Multiple bills endorsed by PNW are continuing to move forward ahead of the end of the legislative session. #orleg
Inner Eastside for All only wants one thing and it's disgusting
I reported last week that the TriMet decision to build BAT lanes on 82nd Avenue was conditioned on others outside the agency raising funds to pay for it.
This is the first example of that playing out...
