Broke down and bought my wife and I plain MP3 players with no wifi connection. I got pretty tired of Apple deleting my music without asking or telling me! I just want to listen to my music without constantly being disappointed to realize this or that favorite has disappeared from my phone.

2025 was a horrible year in a lot of ways, but 1) I still live a nice life with a wife I love in a city I love, and 2) my career has really taken off for the better this year in a way I didn't expect. An embarrassment of riches, honestly.
High school less so than the others, but high school is a different sort of struggle. My university job? The one that has paid the most and given me the biggest career boost? Definitely the easiest and most flexible job I've ever had by a decent amount.
Since going to grad school and leaving the childcare industry, I have been a high school teacher, a nonprofit program instructor, and a university exchange student instructor and LET ME FUCKING TELL YOU. All of these jobs have seemed like a beautiful dream in comparison to working in childcare.

It delights me! It's been two years and she still remembers how to do the first thing my wife taught her. I love that my wife had an impact on her perception of her math skills. I hope meeting a woman mathematician early into her interest was good for her. Makes me emotional to think about tbh!
One of my close friends from undergrad has a young daughter who's really into math. My wife taught her some pretty complicated stuff for her age last time we were in Japan and she really took to it! She used what she learned as her summer project and now my friend updates us about her math progress
