Important to note here that, while these graphics deal directly with AFU funded children, there are disabled children who are not autistic, who will *also* see a reduction in funding and supports under the new model. But those families are being silenced in the crossfire focused on AFU.
Gov't gfx show: @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social are removing 18,000 disabled Autistic kids from AFU, into an inequitable, inaccessible, income-tested pgm; many 'missing middle' fams earning $50K net/yr and up will exp a CoL increase, and/or loss of long est supports. #BCPoli

Setting aside her early 2020 "you can still ski" BS, when every other province was like 'wait a second, maybe we should think about prevention here,' plus ça change (how many times does history have to repeat before either she is replaced, or she learns to follow science?):

Super encouraging that the science in #BCPoli still hasn’t advanced, and @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social’s PHO still believes we breathe through our hands (and that she controls all viruses, to service travel & tourism season)! 😆😆
BC continues to be a scientific backwater.
Heartwarming scene:
Black Cyber Truck driving past local school, at the end of recess.
A large amount of children run for the school’s fence, yelling “boo” and giving the thumbs down gesture.
🥰
All of the newbies are up in arms about yesterday's time change announcement - and it's funny, because this is just literally the party's M.O.
. @davidebybc.bsky.social's @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social has never met a piece of evidence or science they didn't like to ignore, hey?

February is Inclusive Education Month.
Seems like a good time to remind parents that:
Integration does NOT equal Inclusion/Inclusive Education.
Inclusive Education means disabled students having access to ALL of their needed educational supports, in order to succeed in their goals.

TikTok video pertaining to this important study, and highlighting why cutting supports to certain disabled kids in BC right now is so underhanded.

Leaving this here for the people advocating for a reduction in supports for disabled kids in #BCPoli.
And yes, our politicians and public health reps are well aware of findings like this.
(What’s that about early intervention?)

This is *exactly* like everyone saying:
“Welp! We all have to get COVID now, it’s endemic”, and
No? We eliminated a whole ass strain of influenza in 2020/21 - we absolutely do not need to live with endless infections.
But, complying in advance, so people can fly and eat in restaurants, won out. 🤷♀️

Abled parents of disabled kids:
Remember, often, you are "in community" with disabled parents of disabled kids, and the negative, ableist things you say about (your and other) disabled kids are also harmful to the disabled adults hearing them.
When @davidebybc.bsky.social et al talk about the ROI in supporting disabled kids (while removing support from others), do they think about the systemic negative ROI in terms of the health of parents who don't sleep anymore? Who can't relax b/c they always have to fight for their kids' existence?
I have the email address from the min (when it was Dix) - but it's specific to that office (as in, contains the title, not the name of the person) - do you have that one?
I always CC MLA's office, too, and surprisingly, last fall, I heard back! But I know it's not a given.

everywhere, and no accountability to deal with it, and then actually move forward in a more equitable manner. AND follow through on election promises.
yesterday (in terms of area of waste), and the amount of money earmarked for disabled kids that the Vancouver SD got away with not spending, and moving into general spending accounts in 23/24 would have funded 466 additional Autistic kids under the current AFU model.
There is so much waste...
Yes. They exploit their base for votes (like, in 2017, when they promised they'd work to fix #BCEd, but they haven't; things continue to get worse). And too many supporters are afraid to call them out, because they're so hyper-focused on partisanship.
I was doing math...

I can't relax about:
my kids being unable to access equitable education
my kids and their (lack of) disability supports
lack of access to safe, equitable healthcare
being exposed to a neverending pandemic
needing to constantly challenge gov't doublespeak, used to justify all of the above, and more
The BC NDP, self-styled as a progressive party for the people, would vocally stand in opposition to all of these harmful, regressive policies. Policies which they now champion under the guise of equity and justice and progress, but which continue to perpetuate and deepen systemic harm.
