Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.
Their inaction is deadly.

The bad news is that Chuck Schumer is not up for re-election until 2028. The good news is that he can resign right nowโin fact, he should do that twice.
17.03.2025 17:02 โ ๐ 1691 ๐ 331 ๐ฌ 66 ๐ 18I also never felt like Disch tried to use reviews to position himself, as many polite & many impolite reviewers, including Logan, seem to. (Disclosure: I got Loganed c. 2015. But his self-positioning has seemed obv to me since c. 2005.)...Harsh poetry reviews seem still to be more common in the UK.
17.03.2025 05:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Disch was very funny. In one of his poetry reviews, he made a quiz of unattributed quotes from major contemporaries and then also from Rod McKuen, and you really could not tell what was what. Another review, books by Carver and Leithauser, was called "Barroom Buddy and the Prom King.". . .

In 2020 I read Fat City (Gardner), which had moved continually from Tsundoku pile to Tsundoku pile since 1995. It was great. Duh. Turn, turn, turn.

Today, in a meeting at the White House, the only person actually defending American interests was Zelenskyy.
Let that sink in.
