Some good news—official data released today shows US solar generation continues to grow rapidly and is on track to set new record highs. In March, solar output was up 35% compared to the same time last year!
Akiko Iwasaki and Harlan Krumholz call for Long COVID and chronic disease research funding in the WSJ:
“Advancing this research is one of the most effective ways to improve the lives of the tens of millions of Americans with chronic diseases.”

Just sent off bloods for another LC diagnostic study - if you're in Melbourne, Perth or Brissie and haven't participated yet please sign up! They do home visits for housebound folks
In Italy, muscle biopsies from 8 COVID-19 survivors revealed a distinct myopathy marked by damaged blood vessel linings, not seen in steroid-related muscle disease, suggesting long COVID muscle weakness stems from vascular injury, not direct viral attack.

I'm hoping that we'll also see
- Combination antiviral/mAb trials through RECOVER-TLC or Polybio
- More findings from the various European ME/CFS programs, esp Rob Wüst's group
- Progress towards replicable biomarkers of viral persistence in LC
In the next year or so, I'm hoping that we'll have the results for
- Nanoneedle validation study
- Several pilot / case studies for mAbs in Long Covid
- Early signals from one or more of the JAK-STAT trials (Abrocitinib, Upadacitinib)
Chan Soon-Shiong Foundation will expand PolyBio’s long COVID research with new funding.
Support targets SARS-CoV-2 persistence in tissue and its potential role in cancer development.
Thank you, @DrPatSoonShiong

Thanks, yeah, struggling to process this and what I should say to him next time :\
I should've clarified this is a new GP, my old GP who I saw in person went on mat leave and then left the medical center. But yeah, it still sucks. Was too mad to type this out properly before, evidently..
😭
It really is gutting I thought I'd found an understanding GP. I'm sorry you experienced the same :(
He also spelled my name wrong, which is always a red flag for me in professionals
goddd the number of things that turn out to be caused (at least partly) by infectious, vaccinatable diseases. apparently some dementia is actually "long chickenpox"?
www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
But I've been following politics and organizing long enough to know that the Left has a real tendency toward "thing 1 didn't work, everything sucks and is worthless" and all I can tell you is that the Right does not believe that and their success is largely due to their absolute asshole persistence.
Dr. Soon-Shiong: “…is this what I call long COVID, virus persisting?..the group at UCSF has now definitively proven…does that COVID virus suppress the natural killer cell?…it becomes what-you-call-energic? That's now been published. The natural killer cell has gone to sleep."
h/t to Greg Morrow for this--
They cured symptomatic rabies in mice.
RABIES.

🚨THANK YOU #LONGCOVID PATIENT COMMUNITY 🚨 Because of you, NIH RECOVER grant terminations being reversed & restored! This win was only possible due to YOUR advocacy & support from our Hill bipartisan champions! THANK YOU to every person who called, emailed & took action! #NoLongCOVIDCuts
NIH, which began this week terminating projects studying long COVID, has reinstated the grants, after pressure from Sen. Todd Young's (R-IN) office, an HHS source tells me.
Young had secured a commitment from RFK Jr that he'd continue funding long COVID research.

NEW: The NIH appears to be reversing course on its decision to abruptly cancel a spate of grants for #longCOVID research earlier this week. @cenmag.bsky.social #chemsky #biosky

🚨 BREAKING: Long COVID research grants rescinded earlier this week have been restored, according to researchers & patient reps. Advocates organized quickly yesterday in response to the news, helping reverse the decision.

Thank you Senator Todd Young (R-IN), Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), @kaine.senate.gov @sanders.senate.gov for your help here! Bipartisan coordinated efforts like this are crucial to support constituents and the world community👏👏👏 Appreciate your leadership!!! #LongCovid #NoLongCOVIDCuts
Fight back against all their nonsense. Sometimes it works.
The elimination of: grants to study #LongCovid, the Office of LC, & Advisory Committee on LC — have sent a chilling signal. We encourage folks to take the following action led by our partners:
1. Call your reps: win.newmode.net/longcovidcam...
2. Email your reps: actionnetwork.org/letters/long...
bsky.app/profile/lcca...
DOGE cuts can and do get reversed but ONLY if there is LOUD and IMMEDIATE pushback
E.g. FDA medical devices reviewers reinstated a week after being let go - it's possible and it needs to happen for LC
Call your reps make sure they hear from us!!
THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Scripps Research Institute have developed a groundbreaking UNIVERSAL coronavirus vaccine that triggers STONG immune responses AND shows promise in neutralizing MULTIPLE coronaviruses, including those responsible for causing COVID-19, MERS, AND even the “common cold.” 🧪🧵⬇️
Please call your reps if you can 😭 the only hope for saving these grants bsky.app/profile/lcca...
