Fixed the 'invalid handle' message by changing my handle to sthg else, then changing in straight back. Works a charm.

Let’s say a Brit living overseas needs to return to the UK to take care of an elderly parent. The new rules announced yesterday mean that they would be unable to bring their families. They will effectively have to choose between caring for their parents or staying with their family. It’s pure evil.

Yes, same here. Hadn't been considering it but it's always nice to have the option.

The price they put on love Call it what it is: a war on British multinational families

'Yesterday, the government effectively banned the majority of British citizens from living in the country with a foreign partner. We should call it what it is. We should describe it by its qualities. It is a war on British multinational families.' iandunt.substack.com/p/the-price-...

New NATO boss MUST come from a country that meets its spending commitments. If he (or preferably she) doesn't, it sends a poor message to allies and enemies.

Greek leader declines meeting with UK deputy PM after Rishi Sunak’s snub Kyriakos Mitsotakis ‘deeply disappointed’ after Sunak talks cancelled amid Parthenon sculptures row

Imagine thinking, in 2023, that the Parthenon Marbles belong anywhere other than Greece. UK government is an utter embarrassment. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

There's a new station on the Bucharest metro, Tudor Arghezi, the first new station to open in three years. But why, given that Strada Tudor Arghezi is in the centre of Bucharest, some 10km from the new station, was a name more in keeping with its actual location not chosen?

Connecting Europe by train: It's time to start making the right political decisions Many of the problems facing Europe’s cross-border railways can be put right with simple, relatively cheap solutions, says campaigner Jon Worth. ‘We know how to do this, it’s just a question of m...

Emerging Europe has a really good write up of my conversation with @craigturp.com about central Europe's #CrossBorderRail problems, and what to do to solve them. Rail connections to Ukraine get a mention too emerging-europe.com/news/connect...

It’s taken a war to do it but yes, Moldova is finally on the map. Having an enormously capable leader has helped of course. Bucharest’s politicians predictably annoyed by DC visit: further confirmation that the days when Moldova’s westward ambitions went through the Romanian capital are over.

Was asked today if my kids feel British or Romanian. I said neither, they're international, citizens of the world (although my eldest would probably say he was Scottish). I was told, 'That's a shame'. What nonsense! Nationality is a passport, an ID card, an administrative document. And nothing more.
