“A North Texas homeowners association now faces two federal lawsuits alleging that it tried to kick out hundreds of Black residents who rely on government housing vouchers to pay their rent, and subjected them to racial harassment and intimidation.”

Yup! They just wanna tantalize you into the sale. 😭 And the house inspector didn't note half the things he should have either so as new homeowners we had no idea what to look for (but inspectors can't really be touched here either if they miss stuff 😭 so we had no recourse)

My homeowners insurance policy just went up 400$/yr.
My medications keep being denied by a policy I pay for.
The greed is unsustainable!

My HOA maintenance fee went up 8% this year. Thanks for fixing inflation, Donald Schmuck. 🤮

Sir I need full deets of their competency & if they have branches in SoCal. I'll be leaving for another state by end of year & while im looking into the PODS option, my HOA may not approve of having one near my unit for expediency. Thank you.

Yes, and you think it's billionaires electing zoning board members. No it's homeowners just like you with terrible notions of how markets work.

Grassroots Conservation (Minus the Grass)
How homeowners and communities can boost biodiversity one yard at a time by planting native trees, pollinator gardens, and Miyawaki forests.
by Jon Gorey

Just over a decade ago, Katie Banks Hone learned that monarch butterfly populations were plummeting, putting the species at risk of extinction this century.

Around the same time, Tony Frisk saw a documentary about honey bee colony collapse disorder that left him unnerved.

Hone and Frisk each felt compelled to take some kind of action on nature’s behalf—to do something.
So they each started where they could: at home, Hone north of Boston, Frisk in suburban Minneapolis.

A growing movement is inviting nature back into the cities and towns from which it was once expelled, planting native pollinator gardens and Miyawaki microforests in front yards, schoolyards, parks, and vacant lots.

The cost of living was a huge issue in the last national election. Politicians are conditioned to ignore increases in market because young people barely vote, but the cost of living has come for homebuyers and homeowners now.
We should lean into YIMBY policies.

If we agree there’s a housing crisis in California - and let’s be clear, a lot of homeowners don’t agree - then it seems we should try to get more housing, any housing, as fast as possible. And not let perfect be the enemy of good.

This lady's posts exude the same vibes as the woman who came over to yell at me that she was mad about having to see a tarp over my leaking skylight a few days after my cat passed. The tarp was outside my control (condo HOA crap), but I had to endure minutes of hearing how angry it made her.

As opposed to all that money being willing donated to a bank and an HOA and an insurance company and a city and a county?

We've reached the "anonymous letter blaming the slow property market on a neighbor's unkempt yard and urging me to complain to the HOA" stage of my house sale.

Yes. And homeowners who lost everything shouldn’t be judged for not wanting to go through that nightmare. Regular folks don’t want to devote years of their life to an expensive and risky building project.

Yeah, I just don't swallow anyone's self-description of themselves. Self-political id, is I don't think very relevant
I keep dwelling on two things. Ezra Klein said in his interview with Sam cedar
1: Houston's terrible for homeowners (vote damn. We're bad for homeowners... Yikes)

The plaintiffs, 26 individuals and the organization EDPA2 (Emanuel Displaced Persons Association 2), were homeowners displaced by the City, the Portland Development Commission (now Prosper Portland), and Legacy Emanuel in the 50s-70s. (The settlement didn't include renters or business owners.)

But in the suburbs, it seems like, neighbor status is restricted to the four to six nearest homeowners.
“Oh that’s my neighbor, Tim. He bought ten years before me.”
“Who’s that with him?”
“I dunno. They’ve been renting the duplex across the street for a few years.”

Look I want to get more housing built.
But I also want to do it in a way That works.
We're going to homeowners telling them they need to take a permanent degradation in their equity, give over control of part of their property rights...
You need to confront what you're asking

I didn't say that it would degrade someone's " quality of life"
I said it would reduce their property rights.
Because that's what it would do.
It would reduce property rights so that other private property owners do things.
Something like 2/3 of all voters are homeowners...
